Smoothies are one of my favorite breakfasts and cold brew coffee has been my morning go-to ever since my brother and sister got us a cold brew coffee maker. Why not have both in one go? A filling, creamy smoothie that also packs a bit of caffeine is a win in my book. Add almond butter in the equation and the only question is “did I just have dessert for breakfast?”.
How to Make a Cold Brew Breakfast Smoothie
If you want to make a cold brew breakfast smoothie you need an ingredient that will thicken up your cold brew. You could use ice, but then you’d be veering towards a frozen coffee drink and not a smoothie. You also need to consider that coffee has a strong taste, and not all of your typical smoothie ingredients will play nicely with it. For these reasons I think frozen bananas are the absolute best choice for a cold brew breakfast smoothie. My cold brew breakfast smoothie uses frozen bananas, cold brew coffee, canned coconut milk and a bit of almond butter. The result is a really creamy smoothie that will remind you of ice cream.

Tips & Tricks
- Melt a little almond butter and drizzle it down the side of your glasses before pouring the smoothie in. It will look beautiful and you’ll be able to eat it with a spoon like a sundae.
- Break your bananas up into 1″ chunks when freezing them. This will make blending them easier, especially if you’re working with a finicky blender.
